KME Meeting
October 11, 2006

• Attendance: Jennifer Newberg, Tara DeMay, Sarah Cane, Stephanie Heaton, Chris Barenz, Dennis Norton, Breanne Hoffman, Carla Webb, Scott Mikos

• Dr. Boris Announcements:

The Department gave $150 and we have $200 from what the department matched and money left over from last year.  We spent $40 on pizza so we are at $310 right now.  We set up an account with Citizen Bank.

  • Be involved with the campus
  • Be involved with the high school
  • Get guest speakers to come
  • Show the campus how important math is
  • Make KME more than a social organization
  • Be involved with the community
  • Start expanding the club
  • Discuss something about math every meeting
  • Keep math in mind ALL times
  • Get the faculty involved

  • Set up some sort of tutoring with the area schools

  • Graphing calculator seminar
  • Get involved with Math Team
  • 391 students can do a run through of their presentations for the group
  • Look at some problems and discuss them as a group

    • Talk to our math classes
    • Mass e-mails
    • Personalized invitations
    • Math interest meetings
      • Show how math can be exciting
    • Make flyers
      • Carla will make these
      • Put them in different buildings not just Morgan
