What is it?

The biology  jobs listserver is a mailing list designed to efficiently disseminate job information to students in the WIU Biology department. Many of us receive job announcements via email, and this listserver was created as a way to pass these announcements on to students, much like the bulletin board on the 3rd floor of Waggoner.

How does it work?

Anyone interested in receiving these job announcements must subscribe to the listserver. Once you subscribe, you will receive all posts to the listserver. These posts will be restricted to just job announcements, internships, fellowships, etc. You can briefly scan each message and determine if it interests you. If you decide that you no longer want to receive these messages (hopefully because you got a job!) you can easily unsubscribe from the listserv.

Who is eligible?

The list is not limited to just biology majors; however, the posts will be mostly about jobs in the biological fields. You must be a WIU student to subscribe.

How do I post jobs to the listserver?

Just send an email to wiu-biology-jobs@wiu.edu and it will be received by all subscribers.

How do I subscribe?

Subscribing is easy! Just follow these instructions to subscribe:

Step 1

Send an email to  listproc@wiu.edu with nothing in the subject line and the following in the email body:
    subscribe wiu-biology-jobs [Firstname Lastname]
For example, pretend your name is Jane Student:
    subscribe wiu-biology-jobs Jane Student

Step 2

Within a half hour or so (the ListProc list server checks e-mail every 15 minutes), you will receive an email with a welcome message.

How do I unsubscribe?

Unsubscribing is easy as well! Just follow these instructions to subscribe:

Step 1

Send an email to  listproc@wiu.edu with nothing in the subject line and the following in the email body:
    unsubscribe wiu-biology-jobs

Note that you do NOT add your name to this request!

Step 2

Within a half hour or so (the ListProc list server checks e-mail every 15 minutes), you will receive an email confirming your unsubscription.

What if I have any questions?

Email Dr. Spier if you have any questions, comments, or problems.
