Advancement & Public Services
Western Illinois University invites you to join us in celebrating one of our most historic cultural areas on campus. We are seeking your support to complete a new park area on the site of the original Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center .
For more than 40 years the Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center provided a safe haven for our African American students who wished to study, converse, and gather together. The Center was located adjacent to the Alumni Center and across West Adams Street from Lake Ruth.
Our goal to complete this project is $50,000. Gifts of all sizes are welcome. Your gift at one of the sponsorship levels ensures your name will become a permanent fixture of this historic site at Western Illinois University. Please consider a gift to support the Gwendolyn Brooks Park Project today!
