Any department on campus which is anticipating hosting a conference, workshop, or special event should contact the Parking Services Office at least two weeks prior to the event for coordination of parking lot assignments and special parking permits. The office also provides motorist assistance during normal University hours for unlocks, battery jumps, tire changing, gasoline assistance, etc.

Parking & Traffic Regulations

The regulations for the registration, operation, possession, and use of vehicles by Western Illinois University students, staff, faculty, employees of contracted services, and visitors may be found on the Parking Services web site. The authority to regulate parking is vested in the administration by the Board of Trustees of Western Illinois University.

Persons who own, possess, or operate a vehicle on Western’s campus are responsible for knowing the regulations. Violation of parking regulations may subject an individual to University discipline, including but not limited to repossession of parking permits and/or revocation of parking privileges. Individual cases will be reviewed by the Director of the Office of Public Safety or his/her designee and/or Office of Student Judicial Programs.

Registration of Vehicles - Permits

A parking permit is required in certain lots from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, and at all times (24 hours) in certain lots or spaces as posted. Refer to the Parking Services web site for permit and vehicle registration information, as well as cost of permits.

Parking Lot Enforcement - Fines

Campus parking lots are enforced year round, seven days a week, 24 hours a day, except as noted in the parking regulations on the Parking Services web site. Parking violations and fines may also be found on the web site as well as information for ticket appeals.

Parking & Traffic Committee

The Parking and Traffic Committee is chaired by the Director of Public Safety. Membership consists of students, staff, faculty, and administrative representatives.
