Employee Spotlight Margie Carle

Margie Carle

Office Support Specialist
Dean's Office, College of Business & Technology

Margie works in the Dean's Office, College of Business & Technology as an Office Support Specialist. She began her career at WIU in November 1988 and for the last 26 plus years, she has worked in the same department! Rarely does that happen.

Margie is the first person to greet you when you enter the Dean's Office. She works with the MBA students, serves as a liaison with Facilities Management, plans scholarship videos, and notifies award recipients to get their videos scheduled. Margie also works closely with Beta Gamma Sigma, an Honorary Society for Business Students. Her love of people shows as she enjoys working with students, faculty, and staff. She also shared, "Working at WIU is an opportunity that not everyone gets. It's a place where you want to stay. Lori (Boyer her co-worker) and I came to this department three months apart and we have both been here for 26 years and nine deans!" When asked about her most memorable experience, she quickly responds, "It's working with Lori Boyer that stands out. We make a great team!" One individual that helped Margie in her position was Larry Wall. "Larry was the Associate Dean here and he was in this department for 20 of our 26 years. He was our rock, when he retired we lost a lot. He was always very supportive and very knowledgeable…he knew our history."

Margie was also served in another role at WIU for four years. She was a cheer-leading coach for Western. She still enjoys attending the football and basketball games!

When she is not the face of the College of Business and Technology, she enjoys gardening in her spare time, and spending time with her three grandchildren–one of which is attending WIU now…in Business!

HR salutes Margie Carle as one of our many committed Civil Service employees at WIU!
