Lisa Rutledge

Office Support Specialist
Foreign Language & Literature Department

Lisa works in the Foreign Language & Literature Dept. as an Office Support Specialist. Lisa works with departmental scholarships, verifies grades, ensures criteria is met, and is responsible for the scholarship budget. She assists the chair and faculty, supervises and hires tutors, and schedules classes. Previous to working in her current position, she worked in the University Bookstore, the Infant and Preschool Center, and the Writing Center. She enjoys the interaction she has with students and faculty as well as the budget duties.

Some of Lisa's most memorable experiences are the students she has gotten to know and continues to keep in touch with them. Another "Best Day" experience is when she calls to tell a student that they have received a scholarship. "They are always so happy and appreciative. Those funds help them get through school."

Lisa credits two individuals with helping her in her career at WIU. "Barb Arvin was an Office Manager in English at the time. She helped me to learn the website and also inventory processes. Sara Payne taught me a lot with regard to budgetary responsibilities in Excel."

When she isn't working, Lisa likes to take classes at Western. She is currently enrolled in a Political Science class. She enjoys reading and spending time with family. She especially enjoys time with her three grandchildren.

HR salutes Lisa Rutledge as one of our many committed Civil Service employees at WIU!
