Policy for Memorial Tree Grove for Deceased University Employees

At the request of the Civil Service Employee Council, Council of Administrative Personnel, and Faculty Senate, a memorial tree grove has been established to pay tribute to employees who have passed away. The grove is located in the area bordered on the east along parking lot EV4 at East Village from near the Pierce Street Entrance to the exterior lighting standard.

Each September, a ceremony will be held and one tree will be planted in memory of all employees who passed away during the preceding fiscal year. Honorees will include employees who died while either actively working, on disability, on worker's compensation, or an approved leave from the University. The Office of the Vice President for Administrative Services will coordinate the ceremony, including scheduling, notifying campus and community, sending invitations to appropriate family members, arranging for planting by the Physical Plant, and funding the purchase of the trees.
