Accessibility Standards

The Illinois Information Technology Accessibility Act (IITAA) requires Illinois agencies and universities to ensure that their web sites, systems, and other information technologies are accessible to people with disabilities. While the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act require the State to address accessibility in general, the IITAA requires the State to establish and follow specific, functional accessibility standards and to address accessibility proactively.

Posting Documents to the Web

All documents posted to the web on University websites must meet accessibility standards. Additionally, a statement regarding who to contact should a user need assistance with a particular document should appear on every departmental, college, or top level site which contains documents for download.

Statement Example: "If you need this content in an alternative format, please contact [Name of contact person] at [contact person or department's email] or call 309/298-[department phone number]."
