WESTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY SINGERS CONCERT - "Considering Matthew Shepard" - Dr. Brian Winnie, director
Time: 7:30 PM
Location: COFAC Recital Hall
Description: Considering Matthew Shepard is a tremendously profound and cathartic work bringing about intense emotions of both pain and hopeful growth for humanity. Commissioned for Craig Hella Johnson’s choir Conspirare, this modern-day passion sets the text of many poets from various historical time periods and cultures to tell Matthew’s story. Not just the story of his tragic death in 1998 Wyoming, but of the lives he affected during his short life and his reach to the hearts of those living today. In Craig’s words, “I especially wanted to provide a space for reflection, consideration, and unity within a musical framework.”

This performance is free and open to the public, and will be live-streamed on the School of Music’s YouTube channel and Facebook Live.
