Summer Film Series: The White Horses of Summer

Description: 7/24 – THE WHITE HORSES OF SUMMER (aka BIANCHI CAVALLI D’AGOSTO) (Italy, 1975)

Beautiful scenery and Jean Seberg, in one of her last screen appearances, are the main attractions of this domestic melodrama involving a young boy trying to deal with his constantly bickering parents while on holiday at a resort in southern Italy. Co-starring Frederick Stafford (who starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s Topaz).

7/31 – THE PRETENDER (1947) /THE GLASS ALIBI (1946)

All screenings will be held in the Sandburg Theater, Western Illinois University Union. Films begin at 5:30p.m. and there is no admission charge.

Many films will be preceded by selected short subjects. All films are from the private collection of Western Illinois film professor Richard Ness, who serves as host. The series is sponsored by WIU’s Film Studies Program and the Department of English.
