Dead Filmmaker Series: Truant School- Passion for Life (France, 1949)

Description: All screenings will be held in the Sandburg Theater, Western Illinois University Union. Films begin at 5:30 p.m. and there is no admission charge. Many films will be preceded by selected short subjects. All films are from the private collection of Western Illinois film professor Richard Ness, who serves as host.

6/19 Ė Truant School: Passion for Life (France, 1949)

In this wonderful post-war French film the new schoolteacher in a village in Provence meets with resistance from the townspeople when he introduces different methods and modern ways of thinking. In French with English subtitles. The film will be preceded by the classic short subject THE RED BALLOON (1956).

The series is sponsored by WIUís Film Studies Program and the Department of English.
