Why Are People Demonstrating Against SARS?
Protests against a notorious police unit (SARS) accused of widespread ethical and human rights violations have grown into a broader movement, with reactive escalating violence targeting peaceful demonstrators and threatening innocent lives.
Join us online or at the park as our students educate our community about what is happening in Africa's most populous region.
Afterwards, we will be standing with the local Racial Justice Coalition in solidarity at their protest on Chandler Park's North Sidewalk until 7:30 pm. Please bring a flashlight for safety, and plan for chilly weather.
Please note: Masks and distancing will be enforced. Attendance restrictions and contact tracing sheet sign-in required for in-person attendees.
