Interfaith Prayer Vigil for Justice
Time: 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Location: University Union Sandburg Lounge
Description: Media reports of injustice in our society - gun violence, excessive use of force by law enforcement, race- and religious-based scorn, ridicule of political opponents - have lately threatened to overwhelm our sensibilities and numb our spirit. But injustice and violence are not inevitable; justice and peacemaking are possible. To affirm faith in that prospect, and commitment to seek it, please join in a series of interfaith prayer vigils for justice, and peacemakers. All people interested in justice and peace in the community are welcome. Vigils will be led by local spiritual leaders. Vigils will comprise readings and interpretations of texts about the nature of justice and the nature of peacemaking; prayer by the leader for justice and emergence of peacemakers; prayers by members of the community; and closing. This event is cosponsored by the Interfaith Alliance of Macomb, the Catholic Newman Center, and the Department of History.
