- Description: The 2023 English Department’s Magliocco Lecture will feature Dr. Sara Austin, Assistant Professor of English at Kentucky Wesleyan College. Dr. Austin’s lecture, Teenage Zombies and Baby Vampires: Childhood Culture, Monsters, and the Taboo will explore 1950s horror films, connecting tropes to Netflix's Wednesday and Stranger Things through their use of the band The Cramps. She will examine what has changed over time and what those changes suggest about our social ideas of teenagers.
