- Description: The WIU Showcase of Bands is an annual event at Western Illinois University which gives talented high school musicians the opportunity to participate and learn from topnotch guest conductors. Band directors are also encouraged to attend and observe the sessions under the direction of our guest conductors and the WIU School of Music faculty.
Guest conductors are Daniel Schmidt, Director of Bands at Northern Arizona University and Steve Davis, Director of Bands at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
Friday, Feb. 22, 7:30pm: WIU Wind Ensemble Concert;
Mike Fansler, conductor with Steve Davis, guest conductor
Saturday, Feb. 23, 1-2:30pm: Showcase of Bands Final Concerts
Saturday, Feb 23, 4:00pm: Honor Band Concert;
Daniel Schmidt, conductor
Saturday, Feb 23, 4:30pm: WIU Concert Band Concert;
Matt Thomas, conductor with Daniel Schmidt, guest conductor
