- The Memory of the Holocaust in the Art of Post-Wall Germany

- Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
- Location: Leslie F. Malpass Library, Garden Lounge
- Description: Keith Holz, Associate Professor, Department of Art, discusses some of his recent encounters with art that engages the Holocaust, Nazi atrocities or their memory. In keeping with the series theme--Art and Self-Perception--he departs from a scholarly reckoning with these works to reflect upon his own encounters with them. While attention is given to works encountered in Saint Louis, Vienna, and Berlin, special consideration is given to artworks exhibited in the international art fair documenta 13, (Kassel, Germany, Summer 2012), including those by Avery F. Gordon, Horst Hoheisel, Korbinian Aigner, Clemens von Wedemeyer, and Janet Cardiff.
