- Slingshot Hip Hop Film

- Location: University Union, Sandburg Theater
- Description: University Libraries, along with the Department of Sociology and Anthropology will show the film, “Slingshot Hip Hop” on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the University Union Sandburg Theatre. A discussion, led by Drs. Jess Bonnan-White (visiting Anthropologist from Richard Stockton College); Christina Davis (Anthropologist); and Craig Tollini (Sociologist), will take place after the movie.
According to the film’s producers, “Slingshot Hip Hop weaves together the stories of young Palestinians living in Gaza, the West Bank and inside Israel as they discover Hip Hop and employ it as a tool to surmount divisions imposed by occupation and poverty”. The film has won over thirteen awards, including the Official Selection at Sundance Film Festival. The screening is free and open to the public.
