John Mann Poetry Reading

Location: Sherman Hall Auditorium, Third floor.
Description: John Mann's first book of poems, Able, Baker, Charlie, won the 2011 National Poetry Review Book Prize and was published in 2012 by National Poetry Review Press. Finishing Line Press published Wyoming, a chapbook of poems, in 2008. His poems have appeared in Fence, Massachusetts Review, Northwest Review, Poetry International, Many Mountains Moving, Vallum, Eleventh Muse, The Literary Review, Confrontation, American Letters & Commentary, Birmingham Poetry Review, Burnside Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Mid-American Review, The Fiddlehead, The Comstock Review, Main Street Rag, Tampa Review, Crazyhorse, Conduit, The Gettysburg Review, The National Poetry Review, and 10x3 plus. His play, Mass Destruction, Weapons Of, was produced by New World Arts Theatre in Goshen, Indiana in 2004. He won a Poetry Fellowship from the Illinois Arts Council in 2002. He was a resident fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in 2008.He taught for many years in the Department of English and Journalism at Western Illinois University, where he won awards for both distinguished teaching and research. "Mr. Mann" poems also appear frequently in his blog, johnmannpoems.com. He was interviewed on "Out of Our Minds," a poetry program, on KKUP, a public radio station in Cupertino, California, on Sept.12, 2012.
