Noises Off
Time: 7:30 PM
Location: Hainline Theatre
Description: By Michael Frayn

October 23, 24, 25, and 26

Directed by Kristin Katsu

Called the funniest farce ever written, Frayn plays on the concept of a play within a play: in this case, the play is a dreadful sex comedy titled Nothing On—young girls run about in their underwear, old men drop their trousers, and many doors continually open and shut. Act One is set at the dress rehearsal with the cast still fumbling with entrances and exits, missed cues, misspoken lines, and bothersome props. In Act Two, a performance is seen from backstage, leading to offstage shenanigans and onstage bedlam. In Act Three, the actors attempt to cover up a series of mishaps but only compound the problems and draw attention to the bungling performance. Noises Off is a dizzy romp, a true festival of delirium.
