The Gift of the Gorgon
Time: 7:30 PM
Location: Horrabin Theatre
Description: November 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16

Directed by DC Wright

Famous English playwrite Edward Damson has died violently at his remote Aegean home. His son, American academic Phillip Damson, has had a lifelong obsession with the father he never knew. He begs permission from his stepmother, Helen, a pacifist academic, re-enacts her bizarre, turbulent 18 years with the wildly passionate, explosive, and self-absorbed Edward. Edward's rise to fame, decline into ridicule, and estrangement from Helen is mirrored in the Greek myth of Athena and Perseus who slays the Gorgon only to become a gorgon himself. Edward's simplistic view is that Greek tragedy is a straightforward endorsement of blood-letting.
