Coming to WIU to Discuss Pop Culture and Music! September 30, 2013

MACOMB,IL – On Monday, September 30, 2013, Dr. Kembrew McLeod will be on campus to give a lecture entitled “A Look at Sampling, Fair Use, Pop Culture and Music” at 6 p.m. in Stipes Hall 121. The event is free and open to all.
One of his recent documentaries, Copyright Criminals, examines the idea of sampling music within the hip-hop genre and the impact of fair use and copyright laws within the music industry. Students from many areas of study will find something that resonates in their specific discipline. Specifically, students pursuing majors or minors in Music, Music Business, Broadcasting, Communications, Art, Film Studies, English & Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, and History will be able to make connections to their coursework.
