- Description: It is University Library tradition to honor our donors that give at the Gardener Level with a plant named in their honor. This year's event is September 11th at 4:00 p.m. in the Garden Lounge. Those being honored for their gift at the Gardener level include: Janice Owens, Philip and Jackie Richmond, Dr. David Pichaske, and Colonel Joy Wood, who made a gift in honor of her late nephew and WIU alum, Robert Young.
Janice Owens is the retired Director of the University Scholarship Office and is a member of our Library Leadership Board. Jackie Richmond is the Coordinator of Field and Clinical Experience within the School of Education. She is also a member of the Library Leadership Board. Dr. David Pichaske's full biography can be found here http://davidpichaske.com/ He is a poet and Professor of English at Southwest Minnesota State University. He is editor-publisher of Spoon River Poetry Press and Ellis Press, and the author of many articles and books of his own, including collections of poetry, travel books, literary criticism, and works related to Midwest literature and themes. We have his collection in our library. Joy Wood is an alum from Business Education, retired Colonel of the US Air Force and retired Accounting Professor at Illinois College. She gave in honor of her deceased nephew, Robert W Young, who was an Agricultural Science alumnus.
