Leathernecks Take on the Redbirds

The Western Illinois University Leathernecks suffered a loss Saturday to the Redbirds of Illinois State University. Both teams reach the end zone only ounce, but it was ISU's kicker Zach Kutchs six field goals that gave them the 25 - 7 victory.

 

The Leatherneck defense held the Redbirds to just one touchdown, but couldn't keep them from putting points on the board. Redbird kicker Zach Kutch set a Missouri Valley record with six field goals. Kutch had is second field goal blocked by Patrick Stoudamire, but came back with a career best 48-yard kick to end the second half. He went 6 - 7 on the day.

 

 

WIU red-shirt freshman quarterback Will Lunt threw for a career-best of 188 yards, and a touchdown. The touchdown came late in the third quarter from a six-yard pass to Lito Senatus. The touchdown capped off an 80 yard drive with Lunt connecting 4-4 to Senatus and a 20 yard pass to Patrick Stoudamire.

 

The Leathernecks are still looking to pick up their first conference win as they head to their last away game in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The Necks will take on the University of Northern Iowa in the UNI-Dome this Saturday, November 14. Kick off is set for 6:35.
