Western Illinois University is not only the major academic institution of the region, but also one of its largest employers. The University's payroll includes approximately 1,000 civil service employees, 700 teaching faculty, and 250 administrators.
Academic and administrative employment falls under the jurisdiction of the Provost and Academic Vice President.
Administrative authority and responsibility for employment policies, employment authorization, and human resource records for civil service employees lies with Human Resources.
Student employment is coordinated by the Financial Aid Office.
Each of these offices works closely with the Affirmative Action Office to promote equal opportunity and prevent or eliminate unlawful discrimination against employees and applicants.
This section of the Handbook offers quick reference explanation of employment procedures on campus. However, it is not offered as a substitute for the Faculty, Civil Service, and Student Handbooks. Consult these publications for further information.
