NBS - National Broadcasting Society

Meeting Time: Every other Wednesday at 4pm
Location: 304 Sallee Hall
About: The National Broadcasting Society goes beyond the classroom to prepare college students and entry-level professionals for careers in the electronic media. Alpha Epsilon Rho is the National Honor Society for Electronic Media Students.

SINBA: Students of Illinois News Broadcasters Association

Meeting Time: Every other Wednesday at 3pm
Location: 302 Sallee Hall
About: INBA has a long history of prompting excellence in broadcast journalism eduction.  Students currently studying broadcast journalism are eligible to join INBA as non-voting members at a special, reduced rate. Students in the Illinois News Broadcasters Association organize journalism scholarship and experience opportunities on the local level. INBA offers a way for up-and-coming broadcasters to interact with professionals, gain knowledge and experience, and make valuable carrer and lifetime contacts.  Many of INBA's current professional members started with the organization as students.

NABJ - National Association of Black Journalists

Meeting Time:  Wednesday afternoon at 4 PM
Location: 302 Sallee Hall, BC&J department
About:  After several years of absence on the WIU campus, the Broadcasting & Journalism Department is proud to announce the revival of a local chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). The NABJ-WIU Chapter provides professional and social networking to its members, allowing access to and interaction with faculty and with other journalism and broadcasting students both on and off campus. In addition, the NABJ-WIU Chapter promotes the work of African American journalism and broadcasting students, and helps to showcase students' writing and media production within the university and nationally. Finally, the NABJ-WIU Chapter provides opportunities for its members to learn about real jobs in the media and related industries.
