Associate Professor of Music Business

Courtney Blankenship, B.S. in Marketing (Miami of Ohio), M.A. in Arts Administration (Indiana University) serves as Director of Music Business in the School of Music at Western Illinois University. Her artistic training is in piano performance and ballet. Blankenship has held positions in public relations/marketing at the Bloomington IN Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Indiana University School of Music's Publicity Office and Musical Arts Center Box Office, and as a grant administrator for Sponsored Projects at Western Illinois University. She has taken over 115 WIU students to the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Show in Anaheim, CA yearly since 2008, continuing a longstanding tradition for WIU's 35-year-old degree program.

Blankenship served as a board member of Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA) from 2015-2019. She looks forward to fulfilling her role as Music Industry Studies Board member for the College Music Society from 2022-2024. In 2017, Blankenship received the WIU College of Fine Arts and Communication Dean's Award of Teaching Excellence and was named a Top Ten Music Professor in College Magazine
