Jeannie Galioto, the Head of Costume Design, has joined the WIU Department of Theatre and Dance from San Diego, California. She has an MFA in Costume Design and has been a freelance costume designer for twenty-five years. Credits include productions for the San Diego Repertory Theatre, Diversionary Theatre (where she won a Patte award for Best Costume Design), The Guthrie Lab, Ion Theatre, Mixed Blood Theatre, Moxie Theatre, Youth Theatre Northwest, Park Square Theatre, and Shakespeare in the Park to name a few.

She was an invited guest speaker at The Costume Colloquium in Florence, Italy and she was the costume design assistant for the multiple Tony award winning show "Memphis." In addition to freelance designing, she taught at The Art Institute, University of San Diego, San Diego State University, University of California Irvine, The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, City College, and Palomar College.

Jeannie also worked with the Costume Design graduate program at The University of California San Diego as an advisor and mentor. She worked for many years at The La Jolla Playhouse on numerous Broadway tours as a design assistant, an assistant shop manager, and a lead costume crafts artisan. A few career highlights include creating the hats for the film "Drop Dead Gorgeous" and working on costumes for the band, Slipknot.
