WIU Rotaract Club to Co-Sponsor 'Pints for Polio' Oct. 24 at Forgottonia
October 18, 2021
MACOMB, IL – The Rotaract Club at Western Illinois University will co-sponsor a live-music event, "Pints for Polio," from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at Forgottonia Brewery in Macomb, to raise money and awareness about polio eradication efforts.
The WIU Rotaract Club has partnered with the two Rotary Clubs in Macomb to host the event. This informal, fun, music event is an opportunity to listen to live music and make a difference in the lives of others.
The Rotary Clubs will be selling pint glasses for $10, and collecting donations. All proceeds will be donated to Rotary International's Global Polio Eradication Campaign which has assisted in reducing polio cases by 99.9 percent since 1979.
"Pints for Polio will provide an excellent opportunity for students of the WIU Rotaract Club to connect and network with Rotarians of both Macomb Clubs," said WIU Club President Josh Figus, a senior Law Enforcement and Justice Administration major, of Arlington Heights, IL. "Rotaract is looking forward to helping out in Rotary's event, focused on raising funds and spreading awareness about efforts to eradicate Polio worldwide. Most of our events have centered around making a difference at the community-level due to COVID. However, Pints for Polio will allow us to be a part of an event focused on giving back and making a difference in the lives of others at the international level."
Rotaract brings people ages 18 and older together to exchange ideas with community leaders, develop professional skills and have fun while engaging in service.
