WIU Registrar Interviews Set

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Two internal candidates will interview for the position of registrar at the Western Illinois University.

Joani Wilson, interim registrar, and Sarah Lawson, interim associate registrar, will interview Monday, Oct. 25 and Tuesday, Oct. 26, respectively. Open sessions will be held with each candidate from 2:15-3:15 p.m. Oct. 25 in Currens 203 on the Macomb campus and teleconference to Room 1102 on the Quad Cities campus (Wilson) and from 2-3 p.m. Oct. 26 in Stipes 121 on the Macomb campus and teleconference to Room 2116 on the Quad Cities campus (Lawson).

Wilson has served as interim registrar at WIU since May 1. Previously, she served as the associate registrar since January 2017. Before joining the Office of the Registrar, Wilson was the admissions/records supervisor, Distance Education Support, from 2009-2017. She also worked as an admissions/records officer II and admissions/records supervisor, Office of Undergraduate Admissions from 2000-2008, and as the admissions/records officer I/II, Non-Traditional Programs, from 1995-1996. Wilson joined WIU in 1987 as a secretary III, Non-Traditional Programs.

Wilson received her master's and bachelor's degrees from WIU.

Lawson has served as interim associate registrar at WIU since May 1. She has also served as the director of registration (admissions/records supervisor) since July 2008, and was an admissions/records officer from 2005-2008 in the Office of Registrar Before joining the office, she was a chief clerk in Extended Learning from 2002-2005. She also worked as a temporary clerical assistant in the Office of Financial Aid in 2002.

Lawson received her master's and bachelor's degrees from WIU.

The Registrar is responsible for maintaining and certifying student records, registration, schedule development and implementation, online registration, academic records, instructional room scheduling and classroom assignments, transfer credit certification, tracking student progress, grade distribution, serving as the chief compliance officer for the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, University Commencement and the academic calendar.
