Briney, Ginsberg Recital to Include Composition by WIU Alumunus

MACOMB, IL - - The School of Music faculty recital scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14 in Western Illinois University's COFAC Recital Hall, located in Simpkins Hall, will include a composition written by Western Illinois 2005 Bachelor of Arts music graduate George Hufnagl.

Hufnagl is currently a composition graduate student at the University of Iowa, where he composed "And Still, Between for trumpet, percussion and computer" (2008). This composition will be part of the recital program of Western Illinois faculty members Bruce Briney, trumpet, and Eric Ginsberg, clarinet. They will be joined by guest pianist Ashlee Mack, an adjunct faculty member and accompanist at Knox College, and Rick Kurasz, director of percussion at WIU.

The recital program also includes "Five Bagatelles for Clarinet and Piano" (1945) by Gerald Finzi; "Masks" (2001) by Dana Wilson; "GRA" (1993) by Elliot Carter; and "Double Concerto for Clarinet and Trumpet" (1976) by Gordon Jacob.

The recital is open free to the public.
