Marching Leathernecks to Chicago for Performance, Parade

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Marching Leathernecks Band, under the direction of Associate Band Director Doug Phillips, is on tour this weekend, Saturday, Oct. 11 – Monday, Oct. 13 in Chicagoland.
The Marching Leathernecks will participate in the Columbus Day Parade along Columbus and Balbo drives in Downtown Chicago on Monday, Oct. 13.
The nearly 150-member band is also scheduled for a 7:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 exhibition performance at Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park.
Western's popular band, which is open to students across all majors, performs at all home Leatherneck football games; hosts an annual Marching Band Classic for high school bands; and participates in regional parades.
Drum majors for the band include senior music education majors Katie Lyphout (East Moline, IL) and Benjamin Schweizer (Fairbury, IL) and senior law enforcement and justice administration major Joseph Tang (Rolling Meadows, IL).
