Important Housing Update 07/06

New students will move in Wednesday, August 19 - Thursday, August 20, with returning students moving in Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23. Specific time slots will be assigned to maximize social distancing measures. Students will receive an email from Housing on how to sign up for a move-in appointment. This information will go out after housing assignments are released (mid-late July).

Students will be limited to the number of guests they may bring to help move in. Those who are pregnant or have underlying health conditions should refrain from assisting. Students are encouraged to bring their own cart or dollies, as carts will be limited.

Social distancing measures will be in place, as only a limited number of students will be able to move in per hour. Masks will be required upon check-in and additional safety protocols will be in place.

Additional protocols and information related to move-in and housing will be provided to students later this summer. More information will also be available at wiu.edu/movein.

Important Housing Update 04/28

On Thursday, April 23, Governor Pritzker extended the stay-at-home order for the state of Illinois through May 30. This included a provision for allowing students to return to campus to move out of their residence hall or apartment on campus. This means we are now able to open up sign-ups for our move-out process that will begin Monday, May 4. Please note that the order stipulates that all persons must continue to follow CDC guidelines as it pertains to social distancing.

Students, please check your email with important move-out information, how to sign up, and book return information.

Important Housing Update 04/07

The University will apply housing and dining credit adjustments to your student account by April 13. During this time, further adjustments to your account will be made by Financial Aid and University Housing and Dining Services. While these adjustments are being completed, details of your student account will be temporarily unavailable on STARS. If you were approved to stay on campus during the closure, you will not receive a credit towards your charges.

Some students may be eligible for a refund once all adjustments have been made. Please email billings@wiu.edu after April 13 to request a refund.

Important Housing Update 03/30

Due to the Stay at Home order for the state of Illinois, students who still have belongings in the residence halls cannot return to pick those up until the Stay at Home order is lifted. We will keep all students’ belongings safe and secure during these times. A formal check-out process will be implemented and communicated at a later date.

We also know there are questions regarding housing and dining accounts. We must have WIU Board of Trustees approval before we are able to make final decisions concerning operations and account action(s) for residents. Once the Board of Trustees has made a decision on University operations, including housing and dining, we will provide updated information as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time.
