Purpose of WebCalendar
The mission of the WIU public online calendar is to inform the public of event offerings at the University; to help create a sense of community among faculty, staff, and students; and to promote the institution at large.
The public online calendar is managed by Web Support Services staff in the office of University Relations. To access the public calendar, click on the 'University Events' link on the WIU homepage or point your browser to wiu.edu/wiucalendar.
Faculty/Staff also have access to an individual online calendar program which is managed by University Computer Support Services. Contact the UCSS Helpdesk at 309/298-2704 for more information.
- Each department, college, or office has the ability to create a calendar which can appear on their own website in addition to the University master calendar.
- Each department with a public calendar must have a representative (or 'user') to manage that calendar.
- Any event can be submitted for consideration to the WIU home page without logging in or using an existing calendar by going to the main interface and using the 'submit an event' link at the top of the page.
- Web Support Services determines which events appear on the WIU home page. It can take up to 2 working days to approve events for the home page. If you have an event you would like to be considered for the homepage calendar, submit it early so it can go through the approval process.
