- Description: This public history talk sponsored By the Department of History features two historians who will share about their digital history projects developing history-themed video games as tools for learning about the past.
History Professor Tim Roberts will describe a class he teaches, "Gaming the Past," and a game he developed, "Lincoln's Decision," which presents the gamer what-if scenarios concerning President Lincoln's decision about the Emancipation Proclamation.
History graduate student Henry Dickinson will describe a game he developed in which gamers find themselves decision-making partisans in the Battle of Blair Mountain, the violent uprising among West Virginia coal miners in 1921.
