1800 E University Dr. Macomb, II. - Description: Please plan to attend the World War II Living History Weekend Friday-Sunday, October 9, 10, & 11th, from 10am-5pm, at Macomb's Veterans Park, 1800 E. University Drive.
This is a free, public event where you can interact with authentic WWII reenactors who will provide immersive history by representing soldiers and civilians from around the world who experienced World War II. Reenactors will stage camps where they will display historic vehicles, uniforms, equipment, food and drink, and blank-firing replica weapons, and daily perform a military skirmish.
Students, families, veterans, and history buffs are welcome.
World War II's impact in Western Illinois will be commemorated with a US Army Camp Ellis-themed kids recreational area, Camp Ellis artifacts, and a Victory Garden.
The Western Illinois Museum will host a USO-themed WWII-era music performance by WIU's Jazz Symphony the evening of October 9.
For more information follow the Macomb WWII Living History Facebook page .
Instructors who may like students to dialogue with particular reenactors can contact Tim Roberts, Professor of History & Founder, Macomb World War II Days for arrangements. Hope to see you there!
