Find Rocky
Each month, a number of you search for Rocky in RockeNews. The first person to find his location and email the Alumni Association wins a WIU Prize Pack. Below is a message the WIU Alumni Association received from an avid Find Rocky participant when he found out he was not the first to respond last month.
Ah, come on... are you sure I didn't win? I replied within 20 minutes of the newsletter being sent out.
Time stamp on newsletter 6:13 a.m., central time... my email (first one, not the one you replied to) sent at 6:33 a.m....
What does a fella have to do? Sit in his jammies all night at the computer waiting for the newsletter to arrive?
I checked when I woke up, spent a few minutes getting Fruit Loops for the kids and Raisin Bran for me (don't laugh, it's not funny... fiber is an essential part of a healthy diet), checked moments later and responded immediately when I saw the newsletter.
How much time did I get beat by? Somebody with one of those fancy/schmancy all-in-everything iphone thing-a-ma-jiggers probably has the thing set to sound off with an atomic warning alarm the moment it detects an email has been received from WIU. Schmuck probably sleeps with the thing under his pillow.
OK, I guess I have to train harder, dedicate myself more to this competitive endeavor, and rearrange my priorities if I really want to be an Alumni Newsletter champion. If that's what it takes to stand victorious on that podium, clutching the WIU Prize Pack triumphantly, then I guess that's what I've got to do. Starting today, I won't be wasting my time serving Fruit Loops to the kids -- they can get their own!
