Students Celebrated Western's 85th Homecoming Week
Western Illinois University celebrated its 85th Homecoming Week, “Rocky Loves the 90s,” with a wide array of traditional activities challenging the residence hall complexes to show off their school spirit. Each residence hall went from activity to activity in an attempt to earn points in the weeklong Homecoming competition.
The annual Paint the Town kicked off the activities where each residence hall went to Macomb Downtown Square businesses to remind the community that “Rocky Loves the 90s.”
Additionally the annual Variety Show featured acts by WIU student groups. Thompson Hall pulled away in first. The highlight of the evening was naming King and Queen, Matthew Isaac and Allison Morgan. The number of voting students tripled this year as the voting was available on STARS for the first time.
Another homecoming tradition saw the Yell Like Hell pep rally full of cheers and dances to pump up the Leathernecks football team and student body. Once again Thompson was victorious.
