Student Alumni Association Invites You to Grad Blast 2010

You are invited to join the Student Alumni Association (SAA) on April 28, 2010 for Grad Blast. Grad Blast is an annual event held in the spring semester in honor of the seniors graduating in May, August and December of that year. The SAA is throwing this annual, can’t-miss-event at Sports Corner @ 124 in Macomb. Enjoy delicious appetizers while you meet the newest members of the Alumni Association!

The SAA would love to see many alumni in attendance at this great event. Alumni play a pivotal role for the graduating class. Share your experiences about life after college, build new friendships or just have a blast at this great event.

Mark your calendars for April 28 at 6:00 p.m. at Sports Corner @ 124. The SAA hopes to see you there!

2010 Orientation Team

2010 O-TeamThe Orientation Team (O-Team) is an elite group of 12 student leaders that assist with the Summer Orientation and Registration programs as well as Fall Orientation. Members of the O-Team gain a valuable career-enhancing leadership experience while assisting new students and their families in their transition to Western Illinois University. O-Team members facilitate small group discussions, perform a series of campus life vignettes, serve as guides and resources for incoming students and families, and play an active roll in Fall Orientation.

Gloriana is Coming to Western Hall on March 24

Gloriana photoJoin UUB as they go country! Gloriana, American Music Awards breakout artist of the year, comes to Western Hall on March 24! Amid the soaring four-part harmonies and electric stage presence, it's clear that Gloriana represents an exciting new and vibrant force in country music. Compared to Country Top 40 group "Lady Antebellum", this young, fresh group has recently opened for Taylor Swift along with Kellie Pickler. Their music has been featured during the Winter Olympic Games currently televised from Canada. Gloriana is everywhere! Their current single “How Far do you Wanna Go?” is receiving major airplay on country music radio. Do not miss the chance to experience them up close and personal in the 2100-person venue on campus, Western Hall!

Featured artist Natalie Stovall wowed the audience at the fall National Association of Campus Activities conference that the University Union Board attended in October. She attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and performed at various venues there. She and her band traveled home to Nashville during summer vacations for shows and even released an independent record of some of her first songs. It was during this time that Natalie’s love of country music really flourished. “I had always been expected to sing country because I was a little blonde who played the fiddle, but for school I was forced to delve into many different genres…classical, jazz, pop…it was a lot of fun, but my love for country music never died. It’s where I belong.”
