Join Us For These April Events

Mark your April calendar for COEHS events! Look for COEHS Dean Nick DiGrino and Development Director Jennie Hemingway at the Chicago Alumni and Friends Event at The Art Institute of Chicago on April 9, 2010!

COEHS will also be at the Galesburg, IL Alumni and Friends Event on April 29. Please join us for an evening of food and fun at McGillacuddy's!

2010 COEHS Distinguished Alumnus

The 2010 COEHS Distinguished Alumnus is Michael Shonrock '81, a College Student Personnel graduate.

He serves as the Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, as well as Associate Professor in the College of Education at Texas Tech University. As Senior Vice President, Michael is responsible for Enrollment Management, Dean of Students, Student Wellness Center, Undergraduate Admissions, Student Financial Aid and Scholarship Office, Office of the Registrar, University Student Housing, Hospitality Services, Technology Operations, Student Retention and Assessment, University Identification, University Print and Design Solutions, University Career Services, Student Media, Student Disability Services, Student Counseling Center, Recreational Sports, Student Health Services, Center for Campus Life, United Spirit Arena, Student Legal Services, Barnes & Noble Bookstore, Student Judicial Programs, Student Union and Activities, Parent and Family Relations, Ombuds for Students, and the Student Government Association. He has oversight of 800+ full-time staff, 1,500+ student staff, and an annual operating budget of over $100 million. 

Other positions Shonrock has held at Texas Tech include Associate Dean of Students, Dean of Students, Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students, Interim Vice President for Student Affairs, and Vice President for Student Affairs. Since 1990, Michael has served Texas Tech as an administrator and faculty member. 

Michael began his career at Western Illinois University where he earned a B.S. in Arts and Sciences and M.S. in College Student Personnel. While serving as Director of Student Life at Pittsburgh State University, he received his Ed.S. in Community College Administration. At the University of Kansas, Michael earned his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration. 

Michael has and continues to serve on numerous community and professional boards such as Association of Public Land-grant Universities, Council of Student Services Vice Presidents, Lubbock Area United Way, National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Gallup Clifton Institute, Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators, University Medical Center Foundation Board, and the Lubbock Independent School District.

Calling all RPTA alumni! The annual Professional Development Conference will be held Thursday, April 22 and Friday, April 23 in Macomb. Events include:

Thursday
- 8:00 p.m. Alumni Social at the Hampton Inn in Macomb

Friday
- 7:15 a.m. - Continental Breakfast in Horrabin Hall Gym
- 8:00, 9:00, 10:00 a.m. - Concurrent Sessions
- 11:00 a.m. - Luncheon with keynote speaker, Pete Swisher and the Awards and Recognition Ceremony in the Horrabin Hall Gymnasium
- 1:00 p.m. - RPTA's Big Bogey Classic at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course
- 5:30 p.m. - Cookout at Horn Field Campus
