Barr, Glazier Earn MVFC Top Honor
For the second time in Western Illinois Football history, a pair of teammates came away with the Missouri Valley Football Conference's top award. Senior quarterback Matt Barr (Belvidere/Belvidere) was named the league's 'Offensive Player of the Year' while senior linebacker Kyle Glazier (Geneseo/Geneseo) was voted as 'Defensive Player of the Year'. The MVFC announced the award winners Monday (Nov. 29).

Three Leathernecks Named Finalists for Top FCS Awards
The Western Illinois football team received more good news on Monday (Nov. 22) when three of its members were named as finalists for various Football Championship Subdivision awards.
Fighting Leatherneck head coach Mark Hendrickson was named as a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award, given annually to the top coach in the FCS. Senior quarterback Matt Barr (Belvidere/Belvidere) was named as a finalist for the Walter Payton Award as the nation's top offensive player and senior linebacker Kyle Glazier (Geneseo/Geneseo) was named as a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award as the nation's top defensive player.

Kimura, Rapids Win MLS Cup
Kosuke Kimura and the Colorado Rapids defeated FC Dallas by a 2-1 score in the MLS Cup Final in Toronto on Sunday, Nov. 21.
Kimura, who helped lead Western Illinois to three-straight league titles and NCAA Tournament appearances from 2004-06, played every minute during the title match.

2011 Baseball Schedule Released
Western Illinois head baseball coach Mike Villano announced the 2011 baseball schedule, Thursday, Nov. 18.
The Fighting Leathernecks will face four opponents who participated in the 2010 NCAA Baseball Tournament. They include Kansas State, which finished third in the Big XII a season ago, Atlantic 10 champion Saint Louis University, Summit League opponent Oral Roberts and Illinois State University.

Women's Soccer Hands Out Annual Awards
The Western Illinois women's soccer team honored six of its members at the team's annual awards ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 17.
Jenny Green was named as the team's MVP after finishing second on the team with ten points on three goals and four assists. She was also named as The Summit League's Defensive Player of the Year earlier this month and was a First Team All-League selection.
