68 Students to Study Abroad in the Spring

On November 16, the Office of Study Abroad held its pre-departure orientation for students who will study abroad in spring 2011. Forty-six of the sixty-eight students are participating in the faculty-led Study Abroad courses Communication Around the “World”, Agriculture Down Under and WISE Spain. The remaining students will study for the semester in various countries, including Australia, Brazil, England, Italy, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sweden and The Netherlands.   

Study Abroad Students Receive Awards & Scholarships

Five WIU students recently received scholarships or grants to helpfinance their studies. Jackson Courter (Macomb, IL) received the WIU Office of Study Abroad scholarship to use while studying in Spain.  Paulius Valaisa (Countryside, IL) received the Drs. James F. and Syndy M. Conger Study Abroad Award to use for study in The Netherlands.  Students who received grants for faculty-led courses were: Jordan Haney (Winchester, IL) – Grant from the Office of Study Abroad for Agriculture Down Under; Ethan Knight (McHenry, IL) – Grant from the Office of Study Abroad for Communication around the “World”; and Rylee Russell (Farmer City, IL) – Grant from the Office of Study Abroad for WISE Spain. Congratulations to all recipients!
