New Alumni Council Members

Six new members will serve the Western Illinois University Alumni Council for the 2010-2011 year. They include Harvey Ahitow ’68, Chuck Giger ’70,
Brett Goad ’74 ’76, Fred Longacre ’64, Brian Savage ’73 and Kathy Sullivan ’78.

Harvey Ahitow ’68, retired manager of the North Riverside Park Mall in North Riverside (IL); graduated from WIU with a bachelor’s degree in physical education.

Chuck Giger ’70, a retired Navy Captain and Naval Aviator, currently Chief of Staff for DK Hirner for Congress campaign in Illinois 18th Congressional District. Chuck graduated with a Bachelor of Business degree, received a Master of Psychology degree in 2002 from California Coast University and a PhD in Psychology from Saybrook Graduate School in 2005. He and his wife DK reside in Springfield, IL.

Brett Goad ’74 ’76, retired director of student activities at Hinsdale South High School in Darien (IL); received with a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in music, both from WIU.

Fred Longacre ’64, a Realtor at United Country Real Estate in Palmyra (MO); graduated from WIU with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy.

Brian Savage ’73, a CPA/CFP at Brian T. Savage PC in Lombard (IL); graduated from WIU with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy.

Kathy Sullivan ’78, a senior systems analyst at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood (IL); graduated from WIU with a bachelor’s degree in home economics.

Comprised of 25 alumni appointed to three-year terms, as well as a current student who serves as president of the Student Alumni Association, the Alumni Council represents the interests of Western’s more than 109,000 alumni. Members serve as liaisons to various University areas and on advisory boards. The council assists in the recruitment of students, selects Alumni Award recipients and was instrumental in establishing the Student Alumni Association. The council meets on a quarterly basis. Roger Clawson ’77, a State Farm agent in Moline (IL), serves as president.
