MACOMB/MOLINE, IL -- Confidential meetings with selected Western Illinois University presidential candidates will be held at an off-campus location within the next four weeks, according to Presidential Search Committee co-chairs Faculty Senate Chair Dennis DeVolder and Board of Trustees Secretary Bill Epperly.

DeVolder and Epperly reported that more than 300 prospects have been identified and contacted.

"We have a strong pool of applicants under consideration, and we are pleased with the progress to date," said DeVolder. "We are on schedule and look forward to the next stage of the process."

According to Epperly, following the off-site meetings, the search committee will recommend a minimum of five candidates for on-campus interviews. A date has not yet been determined for the on-campus interviews.

WIU President Al Goldfarb announced June 5, 2009 that he will retire June 30, 2011. The new president will take office July 1, 2011.
