Universitywide Publicity and Promotion

University Relations (UR) is responsible for promoting Western Illinois University programs, accomplishments, events, faculty, staff, students and alumni.

University Relations prepares news/feature stories for distribution to media; facilitates University-related news media coverage; produces/maintains Western's social media efforts; coordinates and hosts news conferences; promotes University faculty and staff as expert sources; and coordinate Western News and Campus Connection.

Marketing & Web Representatives

Marketing and web representatives provide colleges, departments, and faculty with the following support:

  • scheduling events & locations
  • writing/editing copy
  • preparing print for the web and for internal/external marketing and advertising
  • posting to the college, department, and public web calendars
  • submitting items for Campus Connection, University News, and Western News
  • updating college and department websites

WIU Web Services

Web Services, a subsidiary of University Technology, maintains the upper levels of the website and provides support for division/college area web representatives as needed.   Divisions/colleges, departments are responsible for submitting their events to their calendar and to the public web calendar.
