Walk-In Customers
Customers should feel free to bring copies of electronic files to DPS on removable media such as flash drives (aka USB drives, thumb drives) or CDs. However, removable media sometimes fail, causing customers to lose time or—if they fail to make backup copies—the files themselves and hours of worth of work. Therefore,
- Always have backup copies of files
- Keep copies of files on network file storage (aka storage area network [SAN], "P" drive, SAMBA network drive) provided to students, faculty, and staff by University Compute Support Services (UCSS).
Network file storage provides computer users with a secure, reliable method for storing and accessing files from just about anywhere—including DPS. Contact the UCSS Helpdesk 309/298-2704 for more information about network file storage.
