The WIU ROTC's color guard is a voluntary activity
that allows cadets to develop their individual drill and ceremony techniques
including marching and presenting arms both with and without a rifle, as
well as with national and state colors. It is also an opportunity
for cadets to gain confidence in calling commands. The Color Guard
is regularly called upon to perform at Western Illinois University Football games, and
men's and women's basketball games as well as various school assemblies
and community events. Each year, at the Western Illinois Military Ball,
the color guard calls upon its best to perform a special presentation of
the colors,, and are led by a senior cadet with a sabre.
