Zimbra Migration Schedule
Faculty/staff migration began July 6th and was completed December 7th. In all, 3,278 accounts were migrated to Zimbra - 106% of the projected count. All faculty/staff received at 2G of networked email/calendar storage, some 4-6 times what they had been allocated previously. In addition, all email/calendar data is automatically backed up on the network to prevent loss of information that can occur when data is stored on local drives.
Student migrations will begin Spring 2008. All students will receive 1G of email/calendar network storage, some 10 times what they have previously been allocated. This increase will also tie in with the increased emphasis of using WIU email accounts for official university communication.
The student migration to Zimbra will also coincide with the release of Zimbra 5.0 which will bring numerous enhancements to the Zimbra Collaboration Suite.
