SSG Carol A. Goodman enlisted into the Army in June 2008 and she attended basic combat training and advanced individual training at Ft. Leonard-Wood, MO. Upon completion of her training she was awarded the MOS of 88M-Motor Transport Operator.

SSG Goodman’s first assignment was to Schofield Barracks, HI where she was assigned to 18MCT, 45th Sustainment Brigade. She was later transferred to another unit at Schofield Barracks in F Co., 2-27 IN BN, 3rd BCT, 25th Infantry Division. She then volunteered to deploy to Tikrit, Iraq to catch up to her unit who was serving there in support of OIF VIII-IX. When the unit was put on the deployment rotation for Afghanistan she extended her initial contract enabling her to deploy with the unit once again, this time in support of OEF XI-XII. While deployed to Afghanistan she re-enlisted for her second term and requested airborne school for her re-enlistment option.

Upon redeployment she prepared to PCS and to attend airborne school at Ft. Benning, GA. in September 2012 and upon graduation received orders to the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, NC. She was assigned to A Co., 82nd BSB, 3BCT, 82nd ABN DIV. While in the 82nd BSB she completed 12 static line jumps with her unit. In the summer of 2014, SSG Goodman was DA Selected as an Army Recruiter and upon completion of Recruiting school she was assigned to Galesburg Recruiting Center, Peoria RCTG Co., Indianapolis RCTG BN, 3rd RCTG BDE. While performing her recruiting duties she was assigned responsibility to cover recruiting efforts at WIU where she was then requested to begin teaching MS 111 classes beginning fall semester 2015. Upon completion of her duties as a recruiter she plans to apply for the Army Physician Assistant Program and is currently taking college courses that will enable her to do so.

SSG Goodman is a graduate of the following Army courses: High Risk Personnel Security, Warrior Leader Course, Combat Life Savers Course, Combatives Level 1 & 2, Airborne School, Technical Transportation of Hazardous Materials, Hazmat Certification Course, FBCB2 Course, Advanced Leadership Course, and Army Recruiter School.

SSG Goodman’s awards include: Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Metal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 Campaign Stars), Iraq Campaign Medal (1 Campaign Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2nd Award), Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), NATO Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation (2 OLC), Certificate of Achievement, Recruiter Badge, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Driver/Mechanic Badge, DMB-Driver Wheeled Vehicle.

SSG Goodman is married to Brandon Goodman and they are expecting their first child in March 2016.
