Mario Polite recently joined the Military Science Department on July, 2012 after returning from deployment to Afghanistan. He was previously a cadre member for Kansas State University ROTC. Mr. Polite is a Captain in the Kansas Army National Guard with over thirteen years of service.

 Mr. Polite originally enlisted in the Kansas National Guard in 1989 and served as a combat medic. He earned his BS in Administration of Justice from Wichita State University in 1993 and later earned his MBA from Baker University in 2001.

 Mr. Polite graduated state accelerated OCS in 2007 after a 12 year break in service. During those 12 years he worked in law enforcement as a Wichita Police Officer and Special Agent for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

 As a military officer Mr. Polite has been assigned as a platoon leader, executive officer, company OIC, and primary staff positions. He has deployed to Saudi Arabia for Operation Friendship One, Louisiana for Hurricane Gustav, Kosovo for KFOR 12, and Afghanistan for KS Agribusiness Development Team 4.

Mr. Polite is a graduate of OCS, BOLC II/III, Mechanized Leaders Course, Company Level Pre-Command Course, Tactical Information Operations Course, and Maneuver Captains Career Course. His decorations and badges include, the Army Commendation Medal Third Award, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal Second Award, National Defense Service Medal Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Louisiana Emergency Service Medal, German Army Marksmanship Badge Gold, Nato Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon Third Award, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device, Kosovo Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal W/Campaign Star
