Welcome to WIU Community Music School Dr. Richard Cangro, Director 2013-2014 – Musical opportunities abound – come find your inner musician! Another musically exciting year at WIU Community Music School (CMS) is upon us! Since our opening in January 2009, the program has exploded with a flurry of fabulous, up and coming musicians. New this year will be a class guitar program for intermediate players who are able to read music and chord notation at a basic level. Private lessons are available for guitar, voice, organ, and piano. Opportunity to perform in a string orchestra is available for experienced string students as well. Our programs are staffed with teachers who are exceptionally qualified as well as brilliant performers. Our goal is to provide the highest quality instruction through artistic modeling and knowledgeable pedagogy. CMS is continuing our fabulous music program for pre-school aged children and their parents called Family Music Classes. The early years of life are so crucial for establishing a foundation for lifelong music development. Family Music Classes at the Community Music School bring musical playtime activities to life, teaching you and your child how to sing together in class and at home. Openings for all of our programs are filling up fast! Sign up now to get in on the musical action!! Click the tabs on the left side of this page for more information regarding specific programs.
